Kate Wofford named SVN Executive Director
Kate Giese Wofford of Luray was named Executive Director of the Shenandoah Valley Network on January 12, 2009, as conservation consultant Megan Gallagher of The Plains retired after five years with SVN.
Kate is a native of upstate South Carolina and a graduate of Washington & Lee University in Lexington. She received a master’s degree in forest science from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science in 2002.
Kate and her family recently relocated to the Valley from Hailey, Idaho, where she was Director of Conservation at the Wood River Land Trust. Her husband, Jeb Wofford, joined the staff of Shenandoah National Park as a fish and wildlife biologist. They have a young son.
